Family Kayaking

North Shore Kayaks is a family-owned business that is proud to cater to families looking to spend an adventuresome day together! It has become a weekly event through the summers that we find ourselves delivering custom family day trips at various locations. We encourage our clients to bring their young children along and can safely guide trips for children ages 5 and up. How this works is each child gets a 'chauffered' spot in the front of a stable double kayak replete with 100% of the paddling done by an experienced kayak guide or a parent. Most frequently, we try to place children with a guide so that their parents can have their own fun in one of our single kayaks.

Our family kayak lessons start with patient, thorough instruction and colourful demonstrations- we teach by a 'cooperative learning' model that reaches every participant's learning style and needs. We insure that everybody is comfortable controlling their boat before we take to the water.

 

Kayaking, unlike simple hiking, camping or boating, provides an adventure that truly makes you feel like a liberated 18th century explorer in command of the ocean and your personal 'yacht'. Kayaking is the method the aboriginal people have used to navigate British Columbia's waterways for centuries and while our boats are now made with the advances of modern technology, their style remains exactly the same.

Located south of Whistler and just 15 minutes from downtown Vancouver, B.C. (see maps) our kayak company specializes in assuring you enjoyment, safety and memories.
